Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi, I’m Nina (she, her)

I am currently accepting new clients.

Are you just not feeling like yourself?  Sometimes in life we go from swimming to feeling like we are about to drown. We might encounter huge bumps in our road.  Obstacles may arise, and the people in our circles just can't help in the way we need. You may feel isolated, challenged, even overwhelmed.

In times like these it can help to talk to someone to identify where the challenges lie, map out reasonable steps forward, and build a plan back towards contentment. I can help.

Professional Background
My career choices have always been in caretaking roles. I have worked as a coach, as an educator, and now as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Through my lived experiences and through my ongoing learning, I have gained valuable insight and knowledge about the world we live in. I strive to meet people with compassion, wherein I come open to learn about their experiences and relationships, sit with them through the emotions that come with those memories, and then, when they are ready, find their right path forward. These journeys can be difficult, and I deeply appreciate and value the trust and genuine care needed to seek out support.  I am passionate about providing people with the space they need to feel completely safe and comfortable to share, and to truly feel heard, understood, and validated

I work with children, youth, and adults, and couples of all faiths, genders, and sexual orientations. My particular focus is with middle-aged women finding their authenticity in their changing self, whether that be in their body, mind, or relationships. I support singles in mid-age - learning to navigate life on their own.  I also support athletes with performance blockages and anxiety, along with those in recovery from injuries or surgeries.  As a practicing elementary teacher, I come with lived experience of the challenges of the education sector, and support teachers with burn-out stress.

On a Personal Note
I am a single mom of two adult children and a somewhat crazy German Shorthaired Pointer Pup. I am a painter, a novelist, a hiker, and a camper. I always love a bit of nature therapy for sure.  I enjoy time in the garden or time in the woods, and always am up for a big mug of tea.

Considering Therapy?
I’d be happy to meet to discuss what therapy can look like for you.  Choosing to seek out therapy can be difficult, so those first steps might feel a bit intimidating.  My belief is that we focus first on your comfort, at your pace, with your belief and values in mind, and work together to find a place that feels comfortable for you.  My practice is to give you space to share, but also to gift you a sense of control in your journey.  If this sounds like a good fit, reach out for a chat.

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi, I'm Fanny.

I am currently accepting new clients.

No feelings are final. No matter how anxious, helpless, or hopeless you may feel, you will not feel that way forever– they will eventually come to pass. However, these feelings can sometimes linger or become overwhelming. In those moments, reaching out for help is often the crucial first step on your journey, regardless of where that journey may lead.

Professional Background
I am a Deaf Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), enrolled with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I am also trilingual: Quebec Sign Language (LSQ), written English and written French. I pursued this path because I recognized that there is a need for therapists like me among the Deaf communities, who understand their unique realities and culture. With that said, my support extends beyond just Deaf individuals.

As a Deaf individual who is functionally mute, I have a deep understanding of the personal and social challenges faced by those with disabilities, including experiences of discrimination, communication barriers and difficulties in accessing accessibility services and accommodation measures.

Therefore, I strive to make therapy accessible and affordable for everyone, utilizing technological accommodations such as chat features and closed captioning for those who do not know sign language. I seek to support people with disabilities or suffering from chronic illnesses and those who have sleeping problems. I also support those who are challenged by anxiety, perfectionism, procrastination and/or self-esteem issues in their daily lives, as well as those undergoing a life transition.

I work with late teens (16+) and adults of all ages, faiths, genders, and sexual orientations. I invite you to book a free consultation with me to see for yourself those accommodations in action and to see how I can support you in your journey.

On a Personal Note
Outside of therapy, I like to curl up with a graphic novel, watch informative or cat-aligned youtube videos with closed captions on, or play pet games on my Switch. I also enjoy cooking and autumn aesthetics.

Considering Therapy?
I offer therapy using LSQ, text-therapy in English or French, and closed captioning supported talk therapy in English or French. I'd be happy to book a free video or text consultation with me to see what working with me could be like.

Our Story

Our Story
I'm Joy Pekar, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and the founder of Find Joy. My journey into psychotherapy began as a second career, inspired by personal experiences as a caregiver to a loved one with a chronic illness. During that time, I discovered that therapy isn't about "fixing" what's unchangeable, but about finding peace and even joy amidst life's challenges.
That belief became the foundation for Find Joy.

This practice was created to be a space where people navigating chronic illness, disability, grief, and other life transitions can feel truly seen and supported. Our approach is grounded in empathy, anti-ableism, and accessibility.

We believe therapy should meet people where they are — emotionally and literally. That’s why we offer in-person sessions in clients’ homes, walk-and-talk therapy in local green spaces, and secure virtual sessions across Ontario and Canada wide. We’re committed to making mental health care more inclusive, with flexible scheduling, sliding scale fees, and therapists who bring lived and professional experience to the work they do.

At Find Joy, we don’t just help people cope — we help them connect, grow, and reclaim moments of joy, even in the midst of difficulty. Whether you're looking for support with pain, loss, identity, or change, we’re here to walk alongside you.

Find Joy
